Row 4 (RS) Rib across 3 sts, *bind off 2 sts, rib across 18 (18, 19, 19) sts*, rep between *’s 3 times more, bind off 2 sts, rib to end.
Row 5 Rib, casting on 2 sts over bound-off sts. Work 4 more rows in ribbing. Bind off in ribbing. Sew in sleeves placing rows above markers along bound-off sts of fronts and back to form a square armhole. Sew side and sleeve seams. Sew buttons to buttonholes.

• 1 ball #1210 lime(F), Jarol Sunshine DK from Plymouth, 1¾oz/50g, approx 170yd/155m (acrylic) The above colors make a very bright and cheerful teddy, for a more mellow teddy, the knitter can also use Country 8 Ply from Cleckheaton/Plymouth in softer colors.
• One pair size 8 (5mm) needles
• Small amount of Black yarn for embroidery
• 1 pair size 5 knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge
• Stitch holder
• Polyester fiberfill stuffing
• Yarn needle

ASSEMBLY
Sew arm seams, leaving end open to stuff. Sew leg seams leaving bottom of foot open. Stuff, and then sew on sole. Sew gusset to right and left sides of head: cast-on edge of gusset goes where right and left sides separate at the nose. Sew back head seam leaving neck open for stuffing. Sew front and back body pieces tog, leaving open at bound-off edges for neck. Firmly stuff the head, body, and arms. Finish sewing arms shut. Sew Head to body at neck. Fold ears in half and sew tog at side edges; sew to sides of head. Arms and legs can be sewn individually onto body, or by stitching each pair tog through body so that arms and legs move. Using black yarn, embroider face as shown in picture. Using Lazy-daisy, blanket stitch, feather stitch, and straight-stitch, embroider Teddy using photo as a guide.

Bind off 13 (14, 15) sts at beg of row—23 (25, 27) sts. Work 1 row. Dec 1 st at neck edge every RS row 3 times—20 (22, 24) sts. Work even in pat until armhole measures 3¾ (4, 43/4)” end with a RS row. Bind off 10 (11, 12) sts at beg of next row. Work 1 row, bind off rem sts.

Back
With RS facing and working with sts on holder, join yarn and bind off first 8 sts. Work in established pat across next 71 (77, 83) sts for Back counting st on needle after bind-off, and put rem 47 (50, 53) sts on holder. Turn, work 1 row. Dec 1 st at each end of every RS row 3 times—65 (71, 77 sts. Work even in pat until armhole measures 3¼ (4, 4¾)”. Bind off 10 (11, 12) sts at beg of next 4 rows. Bind off rem 25 (27, 29) sts.

LEFT FRONT
With RS facing and working with sts on holder, join yarn and bind off first 8 sts. Work in established pat across–39 (42, 45) sts. Work as for Right Front, reversing shapings. Sew shoulder seams.

SLEEVES
(Make 2) With smaller needles, cast on 43 (45, 47) sts. Work 6 rows in St st, beg with a k row.

Next Row: (RS) Work Picot row, then work 7 rows in St st beg with a p row, inc 6 (16, 26) sts evenly spaced on last row—49 (61, 73) sts. Change to larger needles and work in Diamond Lace pat until piece measures 6 (6, 6¾, 7)” from beg, end with a WS row.

Shape Cap
Cont in est pat, bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows—41 (53, 65) sts. Dec 1 st at each end of every RS row 3 times—35 (47, 59) sts rem. Bind off loosely. Sew sleeve seams; set in sleeves. Fold lower edge to WS at Picot row and sl st in place, leaving opening to insert elastic. Insert elastic, cut to fit, and sew ends tog. Sl st opening closed.

Neckband
With RS facing and larger needles, pick up 63 (69, 75) sts around neck edge. Work a WS Beading Row. Change to smaller needles and work 4 rows in St st, beg with a k row.
Next Row: (RS) Work Picot row, then work 4 rows in St st, beg with a p row. Bind off in p. Fold neckband to WS at Picot row and sl st in place leaving Beading row free. Weave 1¾ yards of ribbon through Beading row for ties.

BONNET
With smaller needles, cast on 97 sts and work 6 rows in St st, beg with a k row.

Next Row: (RS) Work Picot row, then work 7 rows in St st, beg with a p row. Change to larger needles and work in Diamond Lace pat until piece measures 4¾” from beg, end with a WS row. Bind off 32 sts at beg of next row, work in pat across rem 65 sts. Bind off 32 sts at beg of next row, p across rem 33 sts for back of bonnet. Work 6 rows in pat as est. Then dec 1 st at each end of next row, then every 8th row 4 times—23 sts. Work even in pat until piece measures 41/4 from bound-off sts. Bind off. Sew side edges of back piece to bound-off sts. Fold front edge to WS at Picot row and sl st in place. With RS facing and larger needle, pick up 75 sts along neck edge. Work a WS Beading row, then work 4 rows in St st, beg with a k row.
Next Row: (RS) Work Picot row, then change to smaller needles and work 4 rows in St st, beg with a p row. Bind off in p. Fold band to WS at Picot row and sl st in place leaving Beading row free. Weave 1 yard of ribbon through Beading row for ties. Make 2 small bows and tack to lower right and left front corners.

BOOTIES (make 2)
Work same as for mittens from ** to **. Then work even in St st until piece measures 2¾” from beg, dec 6 sts evenly spaced on last row, end with a p row—43 sts. Next Row: (RS) Work RS Beading row across to last st, k1. P next row.

Instep
K across first 28 sts, put rem 15 sts on holder. Turn p13 and put rem 15 sts on another holder. Now work in St st over center 13 sts until instep length is 11/2″, end with a p row. Put sts on another holder.

Foot
(RS) Sl sts from holder on right side onto a needle. With that needle pick up 14 sts along right side of instep, k across 13 instep sts on middle holder, pick up 14 sts along left side of instep, k rem 15 sts from last holder–71 sts. Work even in St st, beg with a p row for3/4,” end with a p row.

Shape Foot
Row 1:
(RS) (K1, k2 tog, k30, k2 tog) twice, k1—67 sts.
Row 2 & all WS Rows: P across.
Row 3: (K1, k2 tog, k28, k2 tog) twice, k1—63 sts.
Row 5: (K1, k2 tog, k26, k2 tog) twice, k1—59 sts.
Row 6: P across. Bind off. Sew back and sole seams. Fold cuff to WS at Picot row and sl st in place. Weave 27″ of ribbon through Beading row at ankle and tie in bow at front.

Embroidery
With full strand of CB, work 5 Lazy Daisy sts in center of each diamond on bonnet, booties, and mittens. For sacque, work Lazy Daisy sts on front and back yoke only and around first row of sleeves. Use photograph as a guide. With full strand of CC, work a French knot in center of each flower.

BLANKET
With size 6 needles, cast on 165 sts and k 7 rows.
Next Row: (WS) K4 for band, PM, p across to last 4 sts, PM, k4 for band. Beg working Diamond Lace Pat between markers, and k sts outside of markers until piece measures approx 26″ from beg, end with a pat row 14 or 28 to complete diamond pats. K 6 rows, bind off loosely in k.

Border
Rnd 1:
With RS facing and crochet hook, attach yarn to lower right corner, ch 3 and work 2 dc in same st for corner. *Dc between each garter ridge to corner, 3 dc in corner, dc in each st across top**, 3 dc in corner; rep from * around, end at **; sl st to top of beg ch-3 to join.
Rnd 2: Work Picot edging as follows: *Ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, skip 1 dc, sl st in next dc; rep from * around. Fasten off.
